| The Radiation Material Regulations require that all ECD owner Companies assign a care-taker for all the Radioactive Material Containing Devices. This care-taker is referred to as the Radiation Safety Officer or RSO. The RSO is responsible that all applicable rules are complied with.
The Radiation Safety Officer Requirements will give you the most important regulations that require your attention. Being in compliance with these rules will assure that you stay out of trouble with the Radiation Authorities. Further information can also be located on the NRC website . The United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission RULES and REGULATIONS- Title 10, Chapter 1, Code of Federal Regulations - Energy, Part 31, Section 31.5 - General Domestic Licenses for Byproduct Material, discusses the regulation governing the ownership and operation of an Electron Capture Detector. If you are operating your Company ECDs in an Agreement State, you will want to check into the regulations of your State Authority. You can find the addresses of all the Agreement State Authorities. Most State Authorities have a website with access to the regulations. Your local regulations are usually governed under the State Health Dept. Contact your State Health Dept. in regards to laboratory licensing and regulation information. |
